Activity Report From Senegal Country Facilitator

October 13th, 2009

discussed many times with the officials(Inspecteur d’Acadamie, my boss and Inspecteur Departemental, Made Faye’s boss) and directors (SECK, DIOP,NIANG and DIAGNE) about the training and we came to the conclusion that , the best period to organize it is the first fortnight of December, more precisely between 10th and 20th . Early November seems to too short for us to get ready and in the second fortnight of November will be organized a religious festival called “Tabaski”; the sacrifice of A braham. Tabaski takes too much time to people in terns of preparations. So it is not wise to plan any thing near it. I meet every now and the officials as WCR’s facilitator and they almost involve me in any education activity. For instance I need the Inspector Departemental on September 19th and on October 3rd. We discussed about partnership in general and WCR’s 2009/2010 TTC, in particular.

I don’t think we need to change the number of participants in the TTC. A maximum of 35 will do. The last years’ trainings were organized in Diaoule but this time we will move either to Mbellacadio or Diakhao or even Ndiob. We have other targets there and they are eager to benefit from WCR’s trainings.

As to the trainers, there are four directors and myself. We are supposed to conduct the training with most likely the participation of an Inspector.

I will send photos of the trainers and officials

Activity Report from Burkina Faso

Activity Report for September 2009

The main point of the activities in Burkina Faso and in Senegal during the month of September 2009 was to prepare the coming training session. We have agreed that this training session could be held during the last week of November 2009 and the first week of December 2009.

Burkina Faso

During the month of September we have been planning the Teacher Training Conference via telephone conversation. We have agreed on the following points:

Place of training: the training will be held at the School of Fara B, because Fara B is like a center of the School District. That will help us to gather the teachers with less money spent on transport.

Dates of the training: the period of the training will be either the last week of November or the first week of December 2009.

Trainers: Mr. Lassane Koinda, Mr. Mahamadi Ouedraogo, Mr. Nestor Kamouba, Mr. Clement Bougouma and myself Emmanuel Sam. In case Dr. Sue and Marshall will attend, we will conduct the training under their supervision. The names of the trainers listed above are all certified trainers.

Number of teachers attending: We expect at least 30 new teachers to attend this training. Government is still posting and reposting teachers, but by the end of October, we will be able to determine the teachers that will attend.

Budget of the training: $3,525.00

Senegal

In Senegal, Mane has been working with school authorities to determine period of the training. WCR has four certified trainers in Senegal that will be conducting the training. But we will conduct the training in Senegal and in Burkina Faso in a way that Sue and Marshall can attend both in case they are coming.

The training will be held at the school of Djaoule which is located at the center of many schools and will allow attendance with low cost for transportation. About 30 teachers are expected to attend the training.

Budget: $3,500.00

Conclusion

We have agreed that during these sessions, we will increase the number of certified teachers and in the first quarter of 2010, we will be glad to organize another teacher training that will be conducted by the new trainers under the supervision of the first certified trainers.
